The establishment of the State of Israel was due in part to a number of extraordinary leaders. For instance, David Ben-Gurion is considered the primary founder of the State of Israel. As a political leader, he worked tirelessly towards the creation of the State and then served as its first Prime Minister.

Trumpeldor was an active Zionist leader, involved in youth education. He established the HeHalutz movement, preparing youth for immigration to Israel. He was killed while defending Tel Hai, a small farm in the Galilee.
